I fully believe in solidarity and the collective power of young women, as we face systems that survive on the continuation of our oppression. The lives of activists who fought before us, should inspire us to refuse to live in silence and fear. Now more than ever, African collective power through movement-building is needed for us to support and empower one another.

Background:
I currently have 3 years’ experience in the NGO Sector, through my role as National Advocacy Officer for Sisonke National Movement of Sex Workers in South Africa.

I have completed a BA undergraduate degree at Rhodes University. My major subjects include Legal Theory, English Literature, Anthropology and Philosophy. During my tertiary education, I gained knowledge that contributes to understanding various communities on a socio-economic and creative/artistic level. In addition, I gained insights into the implementation of South African law in relation to social, cultural and moral aspects.

Current Projects:

  • Project Implementation of Social Protection Project, under Global Network of Sex Work Projects (NSWP) and African Sex Workers Alliance (ASWA). The project aims to unpack issues related to access to social services for key populations.
  • I am also part of the Task Team looking into the drafting of the Bill to decriminalise sex work. One of my roles in the task team has been to organise workshops with sex workers to educate them on the law reform process and ensure their participation in the process.
