Ulemu Hannah Kanyongolo is a young feminist lawyer who is passionate about using the law as a tool for advocacy. Through her advocacy efforts, she hopes to bring about meaningful change in the women’s rights space, particularly with respect to sexual and reproductive health and rights. Equipped with her legal background and keen interest in research, Ulemu believes she can not only raise awareness, but also galvanize young women to amplify their voices and advocate for change.

Background:
Ulemu Hannah Kanyongolo is a lawyer, researcher, and lecturer at the University of Malawi. She holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the University of Malawi and recently completed an LLM in Human Rights at the University of Cape Town as a Mandela Rhodes Scholar. In 2018, Ulemu founded the Young Feminists Network, an organization which advocates for women’s rights. Ulemu has three years of experience as a legal practitioner and seven years of experience in research and project implementation in the women’s rights space.
